5 Lessons the Church can Learn from Facebook (Lesson #4)

If you look at the Facebook “F” it looks like
a Christian cross with the top bent over. This got me thinking about how FB out
churches the church in several things and thought we could learn from them.
Facebook Lesson #1: It is all about the life of the participants and not the CEO.
Facebook Lesson #3: The Facebook community does not have business hours.
Facebook Lesson #4: The Facebook community is eager to
share life with one another.
The
FB community is excited to share all about their lives (pictures and all) with
people. This open channel of sharing has introduced me to many blogs, books,
movies, and websites I would have never come across. I know some bemoan the
open sharing culture of FB, but I for one see the benefits greatly outweighing
the negative.
What the church can
learn from this:
The
church needs to be more open and sharing with one another. Many times the
Church culture limits itself to only discussing spiritual matters and leaves
everyday life off to the side. I think the Church would be more spiritually
fertile if it allowed some of life’s crap to mix in.
Tangible
expression of Facebook Lesson #4:
“Sharing
is sacred.” needs to be the motto for the 21st century Church. It
doesn’t matter if someone wants to share that they just saw a bird fly by or if
they saw a dove descend from heaven. What is important is that they are sharing
their life and that is sacred.

Nice. My life tends to have plenty of crap in it and the church is suppose to help me learn how to live my life so it would make sense that one should take their crap to church to get it taken care of properly. Sorry to stretch the imagery, but without a little fertilizer the spiritual flowers wouldn't bloom as beautifuly.
